Not long ago, you had a job you complained about almost every day. Not long ago, you had a church you missed going to because Sundays were your only day off.
Not long ago, you wished you could spend more time with your loved ones.
Not long ago, you were upset about going grocery shopping after work.
Not long ago was not that long ago.
Your world has changed unexpectedly. Your life is upside down. The things you were annoyed by before are no longer an issue.
What do you do now? Is there hope in this time of uncertainty and chaos?
You can either complain about everything that is wrong or be grateful about everything that is right. Look around you and slowly soak in all the beauty around you. In the Bible, God tells His people to stand still and know that He is God. What does that mean? Why is standing still important?
Standing still is of utmost importance because it gives you an opportunity to see life from a different perspective. It is a time to acknowledge that you are not in control. Nowadays, it is rare for people to stop and really enjoy the moment. Life has a way of giving you what you need even when you don't know you need it.
You are stuck at home and cabin fever is your reality. Your kids are fighting, you are forced to homeschool while working from home, or have lost your job. You did not sign up for this and cannot see anything good coming from it because you don’t even believe it is as bad as they say. You are terrified and know that staying home is best for everyone. Regardless, you feel cheated. This was supposed to be your year!
It is time to change your outlook. Sit down, close your eyes and absorb. Go outside and take in everything nature has to offer. Smell the air. Look up to the heavens! There is beauty all around you. Inhale it. You can see and feel God’s presence all around you. He is waiting for you to accept that you need Him.
Stand still.
